What is the U.S.D. 354 Education
Foundation?

The foundation is a nonprofit corporation, governed by an independent board of trustees, that qualifies for tax exempt contributions. As a partnership between the school and the
community, the foundation facilitates private contributions to enrich the education offered to the youth of U.S.D. 354.

What is the policy for accepting donations?

Subject to policies of the trustees, contributions, gifts and bequests consistent with the foundation's purposes are accepted and used as directed by the donor. The trustees also
encourage the giving of unrestricted funds, which are to be used as the trustees determine best to promote excellence in the Claflin school district.

The foundation is a nonprofit, tax exempt organization governed by a board of trustees. While their backgrounds vary, trustees are selected for both their leadership capabilities and their strong beliefs in the continued educational excellence of the Claflin school district.

Who are the Board of Trustees for this foundation?

The board of trustees of the Claflin U.S.D. 354 Education Foundation is currently a seven-
member board comprised of a board member, an administrative staff person, a teacher and four members selected from within the district who are all dedicated to enriching the needs of public education.

Who can donate to the foundation?

The foundation encourages contributions and gifts, both large and small, from individuals,
businesses and other organizations. Bequests through wills and trusts by those who wish to have the satisfaction of providing a public charitable benefit are encouraged.

What is the relationship of the U.S. D. 354 Education Foundation to the Claflin school district?

The money donated to the foundation is not used to fund the budget of the Claflin school district. It is invested separately and is used to help provide an extra margin of excellence to the Claflin students. Contributions will be used to enhance the students' overall personal growth and development not otherwise possible through traditional resources. The foundation's trustees respond to requests for funds from school officials.

How can I help?

An investment can be made in tomorrow's graduates by joining with other patrons and alumni in ensuring well-rounded and quality educational experiences for the students in the Claflin school district. Your contribution will be a significant factor in improving educational opportunities for the students in U.S.D. 354.

An endowment is the best way to provide on-going support for a special program or project. An endowment created in honor or in memory of a teacher, friend or relative is one of the most thoughtful contributions a person can make. A substantial gift allows a person to establish a permanent endowed fund and designate how the income will be used.
