What can you do if you have a geometry assignment due tomorrow, you are really stuck on one of the directions, it is 10:00 PM, you can't call your instructor because she goes to sleep at 9:00. What's more, your parents won't let you call anyone after 10:00! Simple! You can go online to HomeworkKansas and get live help from a certified online tutor!**
HomeworkKansas, powered by Tutor.com's Live Homework Help service, was launched September 6th, 2006 by Governor Kathleen Sebelius at a press conference at the Topeka-Shawnee Public Library. Students in grades 4 through 12, as well as those taking introductory college courses, can access Homework Kansas from public computers in their local library or from home PCs and connect one-to-one to an expert tutor for help in math, science, English, and social studies seven days a week, from 4:00 PM through 11:00 PM. HomeworkKansas is "closed" at other times of the day. During "open" hours, the student will be asked to enter his/her grade level and then choose the subject for which he/she needs the help. The student will then be connected with a highly qualified tutor for a live question and answer chat session.
The service can be accessed in two ways. Our Claflin USD #354 students in those grades can access HomeworkKansas through Empowered Desktop via the Kan-Ed link on this website, at right. Students in grades 4 through 12 should already have their login information. If any student does not have login information to Empowered Desktop, they should contact Mrs. Hickel, our district librarian, at school. The other access to HomeworkKansas is to obtain a Kansas Library Card from any public or school librarian in Kansas. Again, any questions can be directed to Mrs. Hickel. For more information about the program, you may access the following Tutor.com article online: "Governor Sebelius Supports Online Tutoring. . ."
**Please be advised that the service is only compatible with Windows 2000 or Windows XP Operating Systems. In addition, the service is now MAC compatible!
